Job Summary


We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Occupational Health Advisor to join our team. The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Advisor is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment across all departments of the automobile dealership, including the showroom, service bays, parts department, and administrative areas. This role develops, implements, and monitors safety programs and protocols to ensure compliance with local, provincial/state, and federal health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:



Compliance & Regulation:



Ensure dealership operations comply with Occupational Health and Safety legislation and industry standards. Maintain current knowledge of OHS laws and update company policies accordingly. Liaise with regulatory agencies and coordinate inspections or audits

Policy Development:



Develop and implement workplace health and safety policies and procedures. Conduct risk assessments and hazard identification specific to automotive repair and sales environments.

Training & Education:



Coordinate and deliver safety training for all employees, including WHMIS, PPE usage, fire safety, and ergonomics. Train staff on proper use of tools, lifts, hazardous material handling, and emergency procedures.

Incident Management:



Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses. Maintain accurate records of incidents and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.

Monitoring & Inspections:



Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits across all departments. Monitor use of protective equipment and safe work procedures. Address safety concerns reported by staff promptly.

Health Promotion:



Promote a culture of health, safety, and wellness within the workplace. Support return-to-work and accommodation processes for injured employees.

Qualifications:



Degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field. Certification such as CRSP, CHSC, or equivalent (preferred). Minimum 2-5 years of OHS experience, preferably in an automotive or industrial setting. Knowledge of automotive shop hazards, equipment (e.g., hoists, tools, cleaning agents), and safety protocols. Excellent communication, training, and report-writing skills. Proficiency in MS Office and safety management software.

Working Conditions:



Work performed in both office and shop environments. Regular walking through service bays, parts storage, and customer areas. May require occasional travel between dealership locations if part of a larger auto group.
