Obishikokaang Sagatay Gamik Notification Clerk

Job Summary:

The Notification Clerk, under the direction of the Obishikokaang Sagatay Gamik Director, will primarily be responsible to receive, record and process notifications received from all Child Welfare agencies across Canada. notifications from all Child welfare agencies across Canada. The notification clerk will also be responsible in escorting all Child Welfare workers coming into the community to do an investigation. The notification clerk will ensure that the rights of the families are not being violated also to ensure child welfare workers are following community protocol regarding all on reserve investigations, as well as participating in off reserve case conferencing via telephone or zoom. The Notification Clerk is detail-oriented, organized, and possesses excellent communication skills to handle various types of notifications promptly and accurately. This role requires the ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive and process all Child Welfare referrals notifications.
  • Administer and manage inbound and outbound correspondences related to any CAS providing notification to the First Nation,
  • Act as a point of contact and collect all information relevant to the Case file.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Create, organize and maintain files for each notification received.
  • Maintain contact lists all agencies, and families involved.
  • Maintain a communication log for all agencies.
  • Participate in case conferences regarding Lac Seul Families
  • Attend all child welfare investigations on reserve.
  • Photocopy and organize documents for distribution, mailing, binding, and filing
  • Coordinate and communicate with all agencies to ensure our records are accurate.
  • Ensure that the agencies are sending all information as required.
  • Case management for new referrals on reserve.
  • As other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school Diploma or Equivalent, Post Secondary Education in Social work would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Previous administrative experience
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Skilled in the use of Email, Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and to work and coordinate with fellow staff effectively and efficiently.
  • Strong commitment to help Anishinaabe families and their children by providing services in ways to respect culture and spiritual practices
  • Understanding of the local language, community & family structure, and local customs/traditions is an asset.
  • Knowledge of: Prevention based programming/services, Child & Family Services Act/Regulations, local community & family structure, and local customs/traditions is an asset
  • Valid Drivers license
Location: (Frenchman\'s Head) Lac Seul, ON

Term: Full-time position

Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., 35hrs/week (some overtime may be required)
