We are seeking a patient, gentle, and reliable caregiver to support an elderly man living at home who requires significant assistance with mobility, personal care, and daily routines. Ideal candidate will reside in Barrhaven or Nepean.
Responsibilities
Assist patients with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, mobility, and feeding to promote independence and comfort
Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature; document findings accurately in medical records
Perform patient assessments and observe changes in condition to inform care plans and communicate updates to the healthcare team
Support catheterization procedures including Foley catheter care and management, ensuring aseptic technique and patient comfort
Administer medications as directed by nursing staff, adhering to medication administration protocols and safety standards
Conduct basic life support (BLS) when necessary and respond promptly to emergency situations or patient distress signals
Maintain meticulous documentation review of medical records, care plans, intake/output logs, and medical terminology for compliance with HIPAA regulations
Assist with medical procedures such as IV insertion, tube feeding management, physical examinations, and patient monitoring to ensure optimal health outcomes
Experience
Currently enrolled as a nursing student or recent graduate with foundational knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
Prior experience or training in patient service roles is preferred but not required; a strong willingness to learn is essential
Knowledge of aseptic techniques, catheterization procedures (including Foley catheters), and basic nursing skills such as vital signs measurement and medication administration is highly valued
Familiarity with documentation review processes, medical records management, and HIPAA compliance ensures confidentiality and accuracy in patient information handling
Demonstrated ability to perform physical examinations and assess patient conditions with attention to detail and professionalism
