Cornwall Community Hospital (CCH) is an acute care hospital located in Cornwall, Ontario along the scenic St. Lawrence River. CCH provides a full range of acute inpatient, outpatient and community mental health services to a catchment area of 100,000 people from the communities of Cornwall, the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry and to the Mohawk community of Akwesasne.
With 186 beds, 1320 employees and 180 physicians, CCH offers a wide range of care and services. These include emergency, surgical, medicine and rehabilitation services, mental health and addiction programs as well as a family birthing centre.

Summary of responsibilities
The porter transports patients and materials (reports, films, charts, etc.) between various hospital departments, demonstrating the principles of patient and employee safety as well as embody a culture of caregiver inclusion in the patient's plan of care. The porter keeps wheelchairs and stretchers in good working order and prepared for use. He/she responds appropriately to paged codes, applies infection control principles, and assumes other related duties as may be assigned.
Requirements of the job
Minimum Grade 12
Current certificate in Basic Life Support
Demonstrated experience relevant to the area of practice including knowledge of mechanics of and ability to operate wheelchairs and stretchers
Physical ability to safely transport patients and materials
Demonstrated regular, punctual attendance
Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
Functional proficiency in English (oral and written)
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training
Asset:
Limited proficiency in oral French - and testing completed
