Your Opportunity:
The position is located at the Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital OR Department. Under the supervision of the Manager, Perioperative Services (or designate), the Nursing Attendant will perform a variety of tasks associated with transportation of patients within the hospital and will participate in quality monitoring activities to improve outcomes.
Description:
As a Nursing Attendant, you are an unregulated health care provider working within a team to provide basic health care support services to patients (clients, residents) that require short-term assistance or ongoing support. This may include assisting clients to complete activities of daily living and providing comfort and indirect services including preparing required equipment and assisting with patient positioning to support the overall provision of care in their assigned area. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. This position is currently under review for alignment to the Health Care Aide classification, and may be reclassified pending the outcome of the review.

Required Qualifications:

Graduate from an approved personal care attendant program or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Additional Required Qualifications:

Graduate from an educational program for Health Care Aides is required. HCA's must have recent experience (within 2 years), since graduation from an educational program. Ability to communicate effectively with others both verbally and in writing. Ability to work as a team member and to request and accept direction as required. Effective interpersonal and communication skills with patients/families, visitors, and team members. Effective time management skills. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) required. WHMIS Training. Displays initiative and judgment, professionalism; is courteous and composed under pressure and is able to remain organized and set priorities; Maintains confidentiality;
