Nurse Practitioner to join the G-Tube Feeding Program
. NPs provide leadership and promote excellence in family-centred nursing care through the five main role components of expert practice, education, consultation, research and leader/change agent.
Here's What You'll Get To Do
Lead with Expertise
: Apply advanced nursing and medical knowledge to support children with complex health needs who rely on long-term enterostomy tubes (G and GJ tubes).
Empower Families
: Guide families through shared decision-making for tube placement and provide ongoing, holistic support throughout their journey.
Champion Tube Weaning
: Help children transition from tube to oral feeding by designing and implementing personalized weaning plans within a multidisciplinary team.
Deliver Comprehensive Care
: Provide inpatient and outpatient services including tube exchanges, stoma assessments, and education via in-person visits, phone, email, and video.
Promote Health & Prevention
: Focus on health promotion, disease prevention, and collaborative care strategies that improve outcomes and quality of life.
Be a National Leader
: Elevate awareness of enteral feeding's impact on pediatric health and family life ' not just at SickKids, but across the province and beyond.
Foster Collaboration
: Build strong partnerships with families and interprofessional teams to co-create care plans that reflect each child's unique needs.
Mentor & Inspire
: Support the growth of nursing and interprofessional colleagues through mentorship, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
Drive Innovation
: Identify and implement evidence-based policies, guidelines and practices that enhance safety, improve care, and shape the future of pediatric enteral feeding.
Educate & Advocate
: Develop and deliver impactful education for healthcare providers, patients, and families ' tailored to their needs and learning styles.
Here's What You'll Need
Master of Nursing (MN) or equivalent, with a clinical focus
Completion of a Nurse Practitioner program (within MN or post-master certificate)
Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario within the RN (Extended Class)
3 -5 years of relevant clinical nursing experience, perioperative, IGT, G-Tube and/or NP experience an asset
Proven leadership abilities
Ability to act as a change agent, and foster teamwork and consensus-building in an interprofessional team environment
Ability to collaborate to identify and advance strategic priorities related to DI/IGT services, including G-Tube services
Ability to establish consultative relationships with inpatient, ambulatory and community services
Innovative critical thinking with excellent communication, public speaking and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of theoretical and conceptual frameworks and their practical application
A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity & inclusion
