The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.Position OverviewUnder the general direction of the Manager of Patient Care, the incumbent functions as a pivotal member of the multidisciplinary team to coordinate and provide clinical management to patients with complex health issues within the defined patient population and acts as a resource person to other healthcare professionals and to the community. The Nurse Clinician utilizes advanced skills and knowledge and performs at a high level of independence as a clinical practitioner, leader, consultant and educator. Practices are in accordance with employer policy and professional standards. The Nurse Clinician supports families in Manitoba, Northwestern Ontario, Nunavut and Saskatchewan as required.Experience

• Minimum three years recent High Risk Labour & Delivery/Antepartum and Operating Room experience is required.
• Preference will be given to those with previous Supervisory experience.
• Satisfactory employment record required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

• Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program required.
• Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
• Successful completion of a relevant post-basic program may be required or preferred in a designated area.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

• Current registration or eligibility for registration with College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) required.
• Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.

Qualifications and Skills

• Must be able to take charge of Labour & Delivery and deal with all aspects of reproductive health choices and childbirth options.
• Must be able to deal with all aspects of reproductive health i.e. pregnancy termination.
• Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
• Proficient with computers, software programs, and applications such as Windows and Word Processing.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
• Commitment to care through a family centered nursing approach.
• Advanced clinical knowledge in subspecialty.
• Commitment to maintaining current knowledge in area of expertise through reviewing literature and attending continuing education inservices, workshops and conferences.
• Expertise and competence in nursing practice, interviewing, counselling, teaching and group dynamics.
• Ability to work independently but collaboratively with patients, families and multidisciplinary team members.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with referring physicians and nurses and community members.
• Displays initiative, accountability, good time management, decision-making ability, leadership and strong organizational skills.
• Knowledge and skills in research and quality assurance.

Physical Requirements

• Moderate to heavy physical effort required.
• May be required to work flexible hours.
• Occasional travel to community agencies, patient homes and/or other healthcare institutions.
