The Opportunity:





We are recruiting for a

NURSE

CLINICIAN (1

st

Step Team)




This is a regular part-time position (28 hours per week between the hours of Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm) based at 80 Waterloo Ave. Guelph and 9 Wellington St. Cambridge.*


Within a client-centred, recovery oriented framework, this position will provide psychiatric nursing care, mental health assessment, consultation, and intervention services for young people aged 14-35 years old experiencing an early psychosis. Within an interdisciplinary team, the Nurse will work with clients, families and staff to optimize recovery through their specific lens including working collaboratively with the psychiatrist and pharmacist in regards to medication management including the administration of psychotropic medications, response monitoring, metabolic monitoring and medication check in calls. The 1st Step Team Nurse will be proficient in delivering health teaching 1:1, psychoeducational groups, collaborative care with internal colleagues and health teaching to build capacity of partners in the community and will be responsive to needs related to infection prevention and control measures. This role will be accountable to the First Step clients and team and report to the Manager, 1st Step Team.



Qualifications:


Degree/Diploma from an approved Registered Nursing Program Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and eligibility to practice as a Registered Nurse in Ontario 3 to 5 years of early psychosis related experience and in providing community-based mental health services National Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing an asset Thorough knowledge of psychiatric nursing and medications Experience working with people who are marginalized, homeless or at risk of homelessness Ability to interact with people in a caring, supportive manner Well developed assessment and intervention skills Well developed knowledge base of the various service systems and resources within the catchment area Knowledge of the Ontario health care system particularly in regards to mental health and addictions Demonstrated experience in applying a person-centered service philosophy to the provision of services to people with serious addictions, concurrent disorders and mental illness Strong analytical skills and creative problem solving skills Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills Sensitivity to social and cultural diversity Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team Ability to work collaboratively with formal and informal community resources Strong alignment with CMHA WW's Mission, Vision, Values and Philosophy Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook and various database software A valid driver's license, vehicle and insurance, as travel is required

CLASSIFICATION AND RATE OF PAY: Level 6 (OPSEU) - $37.09 to $45.21 per hour
