We\'re united by a shared commitment to excellent and equitable health care.Position OverviewWorking within the Winnipeg Integrated Services framework, the Public Health Coordinator in collaboration with Program Specialists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, the Community Nutrition Specialists and others will provide leadership, clinical consultation, education and support to Public Health staff and management, with a primary focus in the areas of Healthy Parenting, Early Childhood Development (HPECD) and School Health. This position will work closely with both direct care and management staff to support practice excellence through th1e following activities:

  • Coordination, development and provision of education and orientation to Public Health staff related to HPECD, School Health, Families First program (in collaboration with the government of Manitoba) and other Population Public Health programs as appropriate.
  • Coordination of Population and Public Health Staff Development sessions.
  • Coordination of student placements within public health.
  • Coordination of orientation sessions for public health staff.
  • Development of orientation/training structures along with related materials (user guides, manuals, presentations, etc) for new/revised areas of practice that require training/staff development.
  • Leadership, planning and coordination.
Experience
  • 5 years recent community public health nursing experience with an emphasis on health protection/illness prevention, health promotion and community development.
  • Demonstrated clinical skills in all aspects of Public Health Nursing services.
  • Experience as a Reflective Supervisor in Families First required.
  • Experience with program planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation.
  • Experience with adult education and teaching/education of individuals and groups as well as in designing and implementing evaluation processes for training/staff development sessions and applying feedback to improve future sessions.
  • Experience working with multi-sectoral partnerships within and beyond the health services sector.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Nursing required.
  • Master\'s degree in a related area preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Current College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba registration.
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
  • Possession of a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver\'s license and access to a vehicle.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Significant knowledge of theory and practice within the area of early childhood development, healthy parenting, and maternal child health services.
  • Understanding of the application of population health, health promotion, community development and harm reduction approaches, particularly in a cross-departmental and cross-sectoral context.
  • Significant knowledge and experience in community program development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation, using an integrated approach.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and evaluate professional training and development for regional staff.
  • Demonstrated leadership, team building, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making ability.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, and computer skills, including competency in creating and delivering public presentations.
  • Ability to critically analyze information and apply relevant knowledge to practice.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with other levels of government, jurisdictions, and organizations on a provincial and national level.
  • Demonstrated clinical skills in all aspects of Public Health Nursing services.
  • Current working knowledge of prenatal and postnatal screening and assessment tools including Families First.
  • Familiarity with epidemiology and biostatistics an asset.
