Operate metalworking machines which shape and form sheet metal into parts or products. Will be required to perform a variety of tasks involving physical labour in a manufacturing environment including operation and maintenance of machine tools and perform material handling, packaging, clean-up and other activities. Responsible for the efficient production of products according to established procedures in a safe manner following all workplace policies. Need to be adaptable, flexible, accountable and dependable with good attention to detail, have a quality focus and work well with others.
Responsibilities and Duties
Operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines
May assist or perform set-up
Ensure safe work practices are employed at all times
Follow written procedures, verbal instructions and complete documentation as required
Monitor production to ensure product quality meets required specifications
May be required to perform material handling duties manually, via crane, hoist or lift truck
Lubricate, clean, maintain and repair machinery, equipment, and tools as required
Clean up and preparation of work area
Follow Company policies, best practices and procedures
Perform other duties as required by the department supervisor
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum grade 12 or equivalent
Previous manufacturing experience
Experience working with quality systems (preferably TS 16949)
