Division: Toronto Radio (640 Toronto, 900 CHML, and 980 CFPL)
Work Status: Full Time
Location: Toronto, ON - Corus Quay (Onsite)

About the Role:

Reporting to the Manager of News, the successful candidate will write and deliver regional evening newscasts for simulcast on 640 Toronto, 900 CHML, and 980 CFPL based out of our Corus Quay office in Toronto. The working hours for this role would primarily be Monday-Friday from 2pm-10pm and may on occasion require morning, day, or afternoon shifts.

You'll be working on things like:

• Write and deliver regional evening newscasts in a professional manner for broadcast
• Coordinate news, stories and lineups within tight timelines
• Report through voicers, features, and talk show interview opportunities
• Monitor competition, research and follow-up on story ideas
• Consistently update website and social media streams
• Conduct interviews from the desk with newsmakers
• Provide a handoff of content for the morning run
• Share content from press conferences and Global News TV for use in newscasts and across the Corus Radio Network
• Flexibility to fill-in as morning and afternoon anchor, reporter or content producer
• Other duties as required

If you have the following...we want to hear from you!

• Previous work experience as a Reporter/Journalist is required; experience as a News Anchor is ideal
• Strong news judgement for stories that matter to our audiences
• Exceptional news writing, news delivery, and storytelling skills
• Proven ability to gather and disseminate news in a timely and accurate manner
• Digital and social media expertise, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
• Passion for news and radio
• Team player - the ability to work collaboratively in a team atmosphere
• A positive, friendly manner and customer service approach that will enable the successful candidate to deal with challenging situations with empathy and sincerity
• Knowledge and familiarity of the Toronto and GTA area
• Above average computer skills - knowledge of Burli and WordPress is an asset
