The Journeyman is responsible for the installation and/or repair of residential/commercial plumbing systems while providing effective customer service for all internal and external customers by using excellent, in-depth knowledge of plumbing systems. The Journey person is also responsible for the training and coaching of the next generation of Journey-Persons and must be willing to teach.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Journey-person must be well versed in all areas of commercial and residential plumbing, including but not limited to:
* Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems
* Install, repair and maintain domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems
* Installs pipes and fixtures, such as sinks and toilets, for water, gas, steam, air, or other liquids
* Installs supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation
* Assembles fittings and valves for installation
* Collaborates with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipe fitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing
* Tests plumbing systems for leaks and other problems
* Chooses plumbing materials based on budget, location, and intended uses of building
* Follows health and safety standards and complies with building codes
* Writes report documenting the problem and summary of actions taken
* Performs inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts
* Assists in the preparation of bids and schedules and oversees other workers, such as apprentices and helpers full compliance with Safety programs
* Perform other duties as assigned

Required Experience
* Ontario Journey-Person Plumbers Licence
* High School Graduate or equivalent
* Experience in commercial and or residential construction is an asset
