Network Operations Analyst

.


We are seeking an experienced Network Operations Analyst to join our Network Services team, with a focus on operational duties for our Firewall and F5 infrastructure. There is a high volume of work, in a complex environment, requiring intricate problem-solving skills. The position demands the management of competing interests, working in ambiguity, continuous change, and shifting priorities. Regular skill upgrades and knowledge of departmental processes are essential. Responsibilities include managing project tasks, maintaining documentation, ensuring system maintenance, and adhering to all University IT policies, security protocols, and confidentiality guidelines. Assist in the creation, testing, and ongoing improvements to business continuity and disaster recovery practices. Experience with SD-WAN is advantageous.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

(job functions include but are not limited to):


Technical

Continuously enhance skills and knowledge. Provide accurate technical advice, solutions, and support. Ensure timely resolution of technical issues. Adhere to standard procedures and IT policies. Demonstrate advanced troubleshooting skills.

Communication

Communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing. Actively listen and effectively communicate in individual or group settings. Keep colleagues and stakeholders informed of service events and projects, without prompting.

Documentation

Prepare clear and concise reports and documentation. Accurately document service events and activities. Develop IT service metrics and identify opportunities for process improvement.

Qualifications / Requirements:



Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in network operations and administration, with a focus on Fortinet firewalls and F5 infrastructure. Minimum Fortinet NSE 4 or equivalent certification. Extensive experience in configuring and managing Fortinet FortiGate firewalls, FortiManager, and FortiAnalyzer. F5 BIG-IP configuration experience. Verifiable proficiency in administering F5 BIG-IP infrastructure. Experience with DNS, Linux, and Wireshark. SD-WAN experience advantageous. CCNA or equivalent network certification preferred; Solid understanding of networking protocols, routing, and switching. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Experience with ServiceNow ticketing and change management preferred.

Other Skills:

Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Exceptional customer service skills. Capability to convey technical information to non-technical clients. Proficiency in providing remote and in-person support. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills. Capacity to perform physical tasks such as equipment installation and removal. Experience in a public sector environment is advantageous.
