Job Description


Overview / Responsibilities: Wood is currently recruiting a talented and highly motivated .NET Software Developer to join our team in Ottawa, Ontario, or St. John’s, Newfoundland. Other locations in Canada may be considered. The position will focus on the development of applications that help our clients anticipate and prepare for adverse weather impacts on their operations.
We provide database management, software development and web-based information delivery to clients, including our own 24/7 weather forecasting centre, using cloud technologies and an Agile software development process. We offer flexibility in work location and schedule, along with a competitive salary and benefits package.
Key Responsibilities


  • Designing, developing, testing, debugging, and documenting front-end and back-end applications
  • Contributing to team processes and quality control measures
  • Communicating effectively with team members on various tasks and projects
  • Monitoring, supporting, or enhancing existing applications
  • Participating in an after-hours support rotation for mission-critical applications
  • Other duties, as assigned

Role Requirements

You are expected to bring your enthusiasm and energy, your passion for learning new things, your interest in new technology, and your drive for quality. Skills / Qualifications: Required Skills
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience
  • A Computer Science or Software Engineering degree
  • Competence in creating scalable, data-driven applications using .NET Framework/.NET Core
  • Experience with Docker container deployments
  • Competence with Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL
  • Experience with version control using Git
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks like React or VueJS
  • Experience with SQL stored procedures and optimizing database queries
  • Experience with cloud services, especially Amazon Web Services
  • Knowledge and experience working in a Linux environment
  • Experience with responsive web design and implementation
  • Experience with mobile application development
  • Expertise in UI/UX design and implementation
  • Experience with web mapping and map services
