Job Summary
We are seeking a kind and compassionate Nature-Based Program Lead to join our team. In this role, you will work with children aged 5-10 years in outdoor settings, guiding them through enriching and engaging nature-based activities and experiences. Your warm and reassuring presence will create a nurturing environment where children feel safe and valued, fostering their love for nature and supporting their holistic development.
Key Responsibilities:
Observe the program environment regularly, identifying & intervening health and safety risks & hazards.
Prepare & deliver nature-based activities that are age-appropriate, engaging, and educational.
Build strong, trusting relationships with children, providing gentle guidance and encouragement to try ideas, build on their projects and share with others.
Foster a sense of wonder and curiosity about the natural world through exploration and play alongside the children.
Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers, providing updates and insights into their child's experiences and progress.
Collaborate with other educators and staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
Qualifications:
Previous experience working with children in an outdoor or educational setting.
Understanding of child development principles, nature-based education.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a gentle and nurturing demeanor.
Ability to facilitate engaging and educational outdoor activities.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt to varying outdoor conditions.
Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Work, Ontario Certified Teaching, Recreation & Leisure or a similar field. Forest School Practitioner certification is considered an asset.
