Community Electric Ltd. (CEL) is a Western-Canada Electrical & Instrumentation Contractor with branches from BC to Manitoba. CEL specializes in Electrical Construction in Industrial, Process, Agricultural, and Commercial Construction industries including Preventative Maintenance and Service.

Position Overview



The National Safety Manager will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing CEL's Health and Safety Program across all job sites and offices in Langley, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Calgary, Camrose, and Red Deer. This role requires a strategic leader with strong communication skills, deep safety expertise, and the ability to influence and support regional teams in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.

Key Responsibilities



Support Regional Managers, Project Managers, and Site Supervisors in communicating and implementing CEL's Health & Safety Program. Provide leadership and guidance to ensure regulatory compliance and promote a proactive safety culture. Develop and execute short- and long-term safety strategies aligned with divisional goals. Analyze safety performance data, identify trends, and initiate corrective actions. Conduct and support project hazard assessments and site safety audits. Lead incident investigations and collaborate with clients on reviews when applicable. Manage WCB cases and support the CEL Return to Work program. Coordinate COR audits across AB, MB, and SK, ensuring timely follow-up on corrective actions. Review and revise SOPs and safety standards to ensure regulatory compliance and consistency. Coach field personnel in Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA) and support development of project-specific safety plans. Oversee subcontractor safety compliance using platforms such as ISN, Cognibox, Appruv, and Contractor Check. Support safety training and development for field supervisors. Manage the safety budget and contribute to annual budget planning. Travel regularly to job sites and CEL offices across Canada.

Qualifications & Experience



Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in safety management within construction or industrial sectors. Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field. Professional safety designation (e.g., CRSP, CSP) strongly preferred. Proven leadership experience in multi-site environments. Strong knowledge of provincial safety regulations and COR audit processes. Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in safety management systems and subcontractor compliance platforms. Strong analytical skills with experience in safety data reporting and trend analysis. Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively.
