ABOUT THE ROLE
The National Lead, Drug Plan Solutions oversees the team that provides the Specialty Drug Care Program services for Private Payers and Employers, such as Manulife, People Corporation and Equitable Life. Manulife is the single largest client within Bayshore Specialty Rx (BSRX) and maintains high patient satisfaction ratings.

The National Lead is responsible for providing strategic oversight and management of Payer Programs; managing People Managers; managing existing client relationships; and collaborating with the National Director in developing and operationalizing Payer Program strategies.

This position is a fully remote contract position.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Supports Managers in their day-to-day operations and the formulation and communications of Payer Program-specific objectives and goals
  • Supports Managers to ensure all Payer Program performance expectations (including Service Level Agreements) are communicated clearly, met, sustained, and monitored for continuous improvement
  • Supports Business Development activities
  • Supports the procurement, implementation, launch and development of revenue-generating services
  • Leads implementation and operationalization of new Payer Programs and Clients
  • Manages and communicates to Senior Leadership, the Specialty Drug Care Program financial results and forecasts
  • Collaborates with peers across BSRX (e.g. Pharmacy, DEX, Finance, PSS) to ensure optimal Payer Program performance and to proactively identify and manage issues
  • Manages relationships with Client counterparts, to proactively identify and resolve issues
  • Assists Managers in handling delicate Client situations and communicating these effectively, as required, to the National Director
  • Develops recommendations for Payer Program improvements based on best practice and knowledge of the private and public payer landscapes within the Canadian market, the specialty pharmaceutical industry and health insurance companies
  • Escalates client issues, and recommends issue resolution strategies, to the Managing Director, as required
  • Facilitates recruitment, orientation, evaluation and retention of staff and succession planning
  • Supports the implementation of departmental efficiency projects (IT, Process or Business related)
  • Facilitates the interdisciplinary team development of action plan(s) to improve clinical and administrative processes and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Supports the National Director and Managing Director on other initiatives and projects, as directed
Qualifications

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Education:
  • University degree in a field of study that critical thinking capabilities, or equivalent experience
  • Graduate of a registered healthcare field holding current registration, or a Business program a strong asset
Experience:
  • Has at least five years of progressive responsibility with recent experience in successfully managing large Client accounts
  • Has been a People Manager (mandatory); strong preference to those with experience managing Managers
  • Has worked directly with/for payers, insurers, employers, pharmaceutical manufacturers or specialty pharmacies
  • Financial acumen to identify, communicate and act on financial trends and data
  • Is able to evaluate important vs. urgent situations and make appropriate decisions
  • Is an excellent communicator with Direct Reports, Peers, and Senior Leaders
  • Has led Business/Clinical change initiatives
