Summary
As the National Business Director in Canada for Ipsen, you will lead and coach the Sales Force to achieve sales objectives for Rare Disease brands. Reporting to the Senior Business Unit Director within your therapeutic area(s), you will be an active and contributing core cross-functional team member. You will ensure that all marketing strategies are communicated to the field sales force, enabling the achievement of both short and long-term business objectives.
In this role, you will help develop the sales strategy in conjunction with the Senior Business Unit Director and be responsible for its execution. You will drive national sales performance of assigned brands, develop local customer-focused business plans, and build and maintain relationships with key customers. Your ability to collaborate with internal functional teams and external customers will be critical to your success.
Main Responsibilities / Job Expectations
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Lead sales force activities including: recruiting, hiring, training, development, performance evaluation, coaching and compliance to Ipsens corporate policies
Responsible for meeting or exceeding the brand sales targets and other metrics and aligning field activities to the strategic initiatives of the brands
Provide leadership and coaching in line with Ipsens sales model to drive sustained improvement in core sales competencies; including product knowledge skills sets
Ensure development and successful implementation of solid business plans
Set clear expectations and high standards of performance for each team member
Active, contributing member to core cross-functional teams, including Brand Teams and special ad-hoc task forces created to solve complex brand-level challenges
Accountable for analyzing the business and leading team development of territory business plans that meet/exceed sales goals and drive sales growth
Responsible for allocating and managing the sales budget and ensuring appropriate allocation by sales representatives
Development of strong relationships with key customers nationally
Establish and develop cross-functional partnerships and appropriately leverage Ipsens resources to achieve the sales objectives
Partner with the Business Insights & Analytics team to affect the data input and development of data analytics reports for sales forecast and territory targets
Communicate competitive market intelligence to brand teams and management
Proactive performance management
Lead team with the creation of their development plans and provide regular coaching to ensure team members are meeting personal development objectives
Complies with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Ipsen Canada staff (including Ipsens compliance and ethics standards, IMC Code of Conduct, etc.)
Knowledge, Abilities & Experience
A Bachelors degree is required. A Masters degree, preferably in business or health sciences is preferred.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry is required.
Must have a minimum of 2 years of people management experience, preferably in specialty sales.
Experience in various commercial roles (e.g., sales, sales training, sales operations, marketing) preferred
Experience in a start-up or part of an expansion sales force is required
Individuals with less experience will be considered as an Associate National Business Director, and will require the following:
A minimum of 8 years of experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry is required.

Competencies, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a high performing team towards meeting and exceeding objectives; proven track record leading a national healthcare sales team
Strong leadership, planning and organization, problem solving and decision-making skills
Proven skills in supervising, managing, strategic planning and conflict resolution
Superior analytical skills
Demonstrated project management, technical presentation and facilitation skills
Acts with a high sense of urgency
Adaptability and strong advocate of change; managerial courage
Ability to travel on a national basis (minimum 50%)
Bilingualism (English and French) an asset
