The Opportunity

McElhanney is seeking a motivated junior / intermediate designer to join our municipal engineering team in Langley, BC. This is an exciting opportunity to build design expertise across a wide variety of projects from land development and utilities design to road improvements and master planning. This is a role that will require flexibility in the types of designs being completed as you work on projects ranging from grading and servicing plans to downtown revitalizations and large utilities and roadworks projects for municipalities.

What You'll Do

Work from preliminary concepts and sketches to produce detailed engineering designs, plans and project informational requirements, using primarily AutoCAD / Civil 3D. Project types include water, wastewater, and stormwater projects, and other underground utility improvements as well as roadworks improvements. Work with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-quality projects on time and budget. Support the continuous improvement of our design workflows by contributing to standards and best-practice development Coordinate and assist in the preparation of documents required for approvals, prepare development and construction cost estimates, tender documents and contracts, and coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved Complete field inspections to monitor the quality and progress of the work being performed

What You'll Bring

A two-year post-secondary diploma in Civil Engineering or a Civil Engineering degree from an accredited university with strong technical skills Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil3D, with an emphasis on municipal engineering projects, utilities and servicing projects, and site grading Familiarity with regional municipal design standards is an asset Knowledge of MMCD and Construction Administration experience is an asset Good verbal and written communication skills are a must. 1-5 years of experience in supporting design projects.

What Can We Offer You?

The salary range for this position is $71,000 - $110,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual's education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
