Purpose:

The Communications & Public Affairs Division (C&PA) is responsible for enhancing and protecting York University\'s culture, brand and reputation by increasing levels of positive awareness, understanding and engagement among its diverse audiences and constituents. The division provides: strategic advice and counsel to York U senior management, communication planning for institutional priorities, internal communications, producing and managing the two main institutional publications YFile and The York University Magazine, media and public relations, strategic brand marketing and institutional advertising and develops and maintains strong working relationships with key constituency groups. C&PA includes the following units: Business Intelligence & Planning, Media Relations & External Communications, Strategic & Internal Communications and University Brand & Marketing. Reporting to the Digital Marketing Manager, the Multi-Media Content Creator is a content creation specialist, able to tell the York story and enhance York\'s reputation globally in a variety of digital media formats. The Multi-Media Content Creator is an idea generator with the ability to conceptualize, recommend and execute compelling and creative solutions for marketing York onto the global stage and reaching varied audiences. A people person who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable working with a variety of global stakeholders including students, staff, employers, recruiters, parents, faculty, alumni, agencies, international stakeholders and the broader York community. University Brand & Marketing drives the University\'s brand strategy and develops/executes marketing initiatives for academic and non-academic units across York. It provides strategic direction and support to pan-University marketing efforts and enhances York\'s reputation by ensuring a consistent and professional approach that reflects our brand in the ways we market, recruit, publicize and report in earned, owned and paid media channels.

Education:
Bachelor\'s Degree in marketing, communications, digital media or fine arts or four (4) years recent experience (defined as within the last five (5) years) working at York University performing the same or similar tasks or College Diploma in digital media development, film and/or video, fine arts, or communications with three (3) years\' experience as a digital content creator, developing compelling stories in a variety of digital media formats. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.

Experience:
Minimum three (3) years\' experience in a content creator role, developing compelling stories in a variety of digital media formats including photography, animation, and all aspects of videography. Previous experience in an academic environment an asset.

Skills:
Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, analyze, and develop digital content for communication channels including social media, website, and new media. demonstrated experience in storyboarding, filming, videotaping, editing, and publishing video and photography including effective lighting set-up for film/video or photography shoots. Demonstrated experience creating animated content, videos, photography, and blogs (i.e. animated video, graphics/infographics, templates) including the ability to record, integrate, and edit sound for video. Ability to think creatively and is analytically inclined with keen research skills. Knowledge of content management systems. Tact, diplomacy and professionalism in interactions with internal and external constituents. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships including showing respect for other\'s views and opinions. Sensitivity to multiple perspectives. Excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated experience coordinating projects, ability to multi-task, prioritize and respond effectively to competing time lines. Demonstrated ability to maintain high rate of accuracy despite frequent interruptions. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Sound judgment, creativity, initiative and service oriented. Ability to maintain confidentiality and social media, including posting when necessary. Applications: Demonstrated proficiency in Premier or After Effects (Intermediate), Photoshop (Intermediate), Illustrator (Intermediate), InDesign (Basic), Wordpress (Advanced) in creating and maintaining advanced Wordpress websites. Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications including PPT, WORD. Working knowledge of email (e.g. MS Outlook) and Internet researching. Experience and competency in Search Engine Optimization best practices and implementation. Ability to create content and post on social media channels. Knowledge of CRMs and dashboard repository applications to organize and catalogue marketing files and assets including raw and edited video footage and photography.
