Job Description
The Department of Physics of the University of Prince Edward Island has an opening for a Laboratory Instructor to be responsible for up to 3 web-based laboratory sections of Physics 1210 (Physics for Life Sciences I) during the first Summer 2025 session and 2 web-based laboratory section of Physics 1220 (Physics for Life Sciences II) during the second Summer 2025 session. The work for this position will be completed online. RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Familiarizing with online pre-set Physics 1210 and 1220 experiments and making minor lab programming adjustments
• Communicating with students and answering online help forum messages
• Holding synchronous online help sessions
• Marking lab assignments submitted through Moodle and Google documents
• Coordinating Moodle-based activities and entering marks into the Moodle system
• Other duties as assigned by the course instructor
QUALIFICATIONS: • B.Sc. in Physics, with a background in instructing introductory physics labs
• Experience evaluating physics laboratory undergraduate work is an asset
• Experience assisting or instructing physics labs at UPEI is an asset
• Experience with using and editing Moodle activities is an asset
