Compensation: $63,772 - $90,776 per annum (based on experience)

We are looking for a full-time temporary Mortgage Underwriter with our Mortgage Development team!

Reporting to the Senior Manager Mortgage Development Centre, your primary objective is to provide superior Mortgage and personalized lending services to our member owners. As a Mortgage Underwriter, you are a member of the Mortgage Development Centre (MDC), a skilled credit adjudicator, and a role model for other employees. Your mix of technical, sales and leadership skills ensure that loans are structured properly, sales targets are achieved, and internal and external members are nurtured.

More specifically, the scope of your responsibilities include but is not limited to:

• Evaluate requests based on policy, and risk, ensuring approvals are within established lending guidelines. Review and approve MDC submissions within authorized limits or recommend exceptions
• Provide written approvals/recommendations as appropriate within established lending guidelines
• Comprehensive understanding of small-mid market company financials to support credit approval process, by establishing ability to analysis service ability
• Coach and guide internal sales team to ensure high quality service is provided to members in the area of retail lending and to ensure that the risk to the organization is mitigated or is within acceptable tolerance
• Lead in the development and achievement of retail channel mortgage sales targets and are engaged in product development and review that is distributed to the sales team
• Organize, schedule and monitor channel activities to ensure maximum service levels are being provided to referral sources
• Oversee quality control over all MDC loans and risks, support the loan portfolio ensuring that the credit union assets are protected
• Remain up-to-date with respect to retail lending policies/programs from our partners so that prompt accurate responses can be provided to our referral sources
• Mentor Retail Branch/FA Mobile Support Staff for delivery of mortgage services in our Retail Branch services
• Develop and maintain relationships with Brokers and referral sources

Requirements

To qualify, you will need at least the following:

• Approximately 5- 10 years Retail Banking Experience
• CUIC Consumer Mortgage lending course and/or recent and relevant land secured lending experience
• Minimum 2 year experience in channel or equivalent experience in previous leadership roles
