Job Description

Main functions:

The Mold Process Technician is responsible for all aspects of the injection mold processes including; changing out molds, completing setups, troubleshooting, operation, and maintenance of injection mold equipment. Conduct Mold evaluations, and line/product trials for validation of processes in order to trouble shoot issues and maintain process efficiencies. Make recommendations of repair and modifications required. Conduct machine and mold preventative maintenance tasks according to PM schedule.

Duties:



Perform and oversee production mold equipment set ups, process troubleshooting and verification of part quality and critical process parameters. Ensure molding machines and supporting systems are set to correct parameters and meeting the production goals Conduct mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical troubleshooting, set machine and molding equipment controls for production runs. Responsible to the Set-up and start-up of new tools and resins, and conducting tool and resin trials, validations for new product development including recording and interpreting data to conduct work measurements and analysis- document and communicate findings Perform troubleshooting and optimization of injection and shuttle mold processes using decoupled molding principles Able to analyze finished product parts and determine corrective actions for quality issues Continuous improvement activities based on irregularities of the product to reduce waste and scrap and improve process efficiencies. Follows all safety protocols and ensures lockout procedures are conducted anytime the equipment is receiving any Preventative maintenance. Assist in the smooth operation of production. Set up injection and shuttle molds and processes per established procedures. Demonstrate proficiency and utilizes and reads mechanical and electrical schematics, CAD; technical manual. Perform troubleshooting and optimization of injection and shuttle mold processes Perform and access machinery repairs and mold maintenance preventative maintenance as per schedule to injection and shuttle mold equipment to ensure optimal run cycles. Evaluate/ trouble shoot injection mold and shuttle mold and recommend repairs and modifications. Verify part quality and critical process parameters during trouble shooting process Perform and complete necessary duties and required documentation to complete job work orders, set ups, tool preparation and cleaning of mold. Ensure molds are cleaned, prepped, and tagged properly in accordance to company procedures. Adherence to all organizational health and safety policies, and promotion of a safe workplace Monitor, train, and coach the machine operators to ensure they are following proper procedures Follow all clean up and housekeeping procedures Comply with all safety, quality and work rules and regulations

Employment and Educational Requirements:



5 years plastics manufacturing experience, with minimum of 3 years plastics molding set up and processing experience ideally in shuttle mold and over mold processes. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; very detail-oriented Excellent troubleshooting skills A thorough understanding of decoupled molding principles Team player, with excellent communication skills, and approachable manner. Ability to coach, assist and train mold operators in standard equipment operations Skilled in use of diagnostic and measurement tools to assess process capabilities Strong technical and mechanical aptitude. Flexible regarding shift rotations, based on production requirements, must be able to work 12 hour continental rotating shift
