BURNCO has an amazing hands-on opportunity for a Modern Workplace & Systems Administrator based out of our Calgary, Alberta headquarters. Initially reporting to our Chief Information Officer you will be part of a team including outsourced partners collectively responsible for supporting, deploying, managing, and ensuring the smooth operations of end user technology across our Canadian and US locations. You will be responsible to sustain a supportive team-focused environment enabling team members to develop and maintain a best-in-class Service Delivery Team.

As our Modern Workplace & Systems Administrator, your key duties include analysis, planning and delivery of critical initiatives supporting our scaling business and transformation towards a Modern Workplace environment, as well as serving as an escalation point for all issues within the End User Compute environment. Your team will have full accountability over the analysis, implementation, and management of new and existing systems, and support the BURNCO team in rolling out our projects and initiatives to achieve key business goals.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Create a positive working environment for the team, which inspires high productivity and cohesive teamwork
  • Ensuring that systems, procedures, and methodologies are in place to support outstanding Service Delivery
  • Developing a deep understanding of projects to gain insights into the scope of service delivery
  • Responsible for all IT related issues for the Enterprise encompassing end user facing technologies, ie Laptops/Desktops/Mobile Devices, etc.
  • Manage Print Management for the Enterprise which includes working with multiple products, technologies.
  • Monitor tickets, including follow up and quality assurance using ServiceNow
  • Identify trends, areas for continuous improvement, raise issues, concerns, and opportunities accordingly.
  • Act as a bridge between the Service Delivery and Infrastructure, Network & Security teams to ensure urgent issues are addressed on time.
  • Experience in Vendor Management, analyzing third-party as well as internal processes, and creating strategies for service delivery optimization
  • Provide 24/7 escalation support when required.
  • Work with PowerShell and automation technologies to streamline processes, including onboarding/offboarding, device provisioning, etc.
  • Provide level 2-3 support for issues related to the EUC stack including M365, and escalate to next level teams if required
  • Maintain deep understanding of endpoint management technologies such as SCCM, Intune, AAD, etc.
  • Maintain an understanding of existing and emerging collaboration technologies such as OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint, Power BI
  • Collaborate with other System, Network and Security architects for everything between root-cause analysis and operational efficiency
  • Design and support OS patch operations including regular and version updates, including checks and balances to ensure high patch compliance
  • Create strategies and solutions to ensure cleanup of unused configurations, stale or unused objects, broken clients
  • Support the mechanics and end to end process of device provisioning, including OS and software deployment
  • Assist in the gathering, design and implementation plans for new applications, upgrades, or enhancements
  • Experience managing applications through small changes and patch or versions upgrades through testing and transition plans
REALITY OF THE JOB
  • On-call availability
  • Frequent travel to multiple BURNCO sites
  • Routine inspection of devices, systems and cables in floors and ceilings
  • Excellent hands/fingers dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and handling other computer components
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as switches, UPS and peripherals

Education & Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science
  • ITIL Certification preferred; A+, MCSA considered assets
  • Experience with ServiceNow, or other ITSM ticketing systems
  • 5+ years working on or leading a desktop support/service desk
  • 5+ years supporting, administering, and troubleshooting standard office applications, hardware, networking and business systems in a customer service atmosphere
  • 3+ years of experience supporting the following systems: Microsoft SharePoint Security, Microsoft 365 Suite, Windows 10, and Active Directory
  • 3 to 5 years of experience managing Windows in a large-scale production environment
Travel Requirement
  • Valid passport and vaccination status to be able to legally travel to US operations at times (10%) as well as locally as required

  • Excellent hands/fingers dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and handling other computer components
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as switches, UPS and peripherals, various computer equipment, etc. up to 23 kgs (50 lbs).
