Position Overview

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is currently seeking Mobile Patrol Officers. Reporting to the Manager Facility & Support Services; the MPO patrols buildings and property of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) to create a safe and secure environment for clients, staff and the visiting public. The MPO responds to alarms and monitors building security through a WAN access-control system. The MPO adheres to Regional Security policies & guidelines, and ensures that regulations of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority are enforced in a prudent and reasonable manner as they apply to Security, Fire Safety and both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Further responsibilities include detecting and dealing with unlawful acts, as well as ensuring that an accurate record of activities of duty is maintained and that all incident reports are properly documented to ensure proper investigative follow up.

Experience

  • Basic 40 hour CSGB (Certificate) or a minimum of 3000 hours of guard experience.
  • Prior security work experience preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Completion of a high school or equivalent program of studies (GED), Manitoba standards required.
  • Diploma from a recognized educational institution for Security Officer Training or a combination of previous experience as a Peace Officer or military background.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Basic First Aid certification required.
  • Must have a valid and clear Manitoba driver\'s license. (Driver\'s abstract required)
Qualifications and Skills
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.
  • Must apply with a copy of a Criminal Record Check, Adult & Child Abuse Registry Check (no greater than 6 months old).
Physical Requirements
  • Good physical and mental health required.
This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective bargaining agreement

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.

Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
