Summary:
The Mixing Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the mixing area is operational during the shift, run effectively and efficiently while maintaining the required safety and quality standards. Responsibilities will include the training of staff in mixing methods, safety, policies and procedures. In the course of their duties, the Mixing Supervisor will complete paperwork and hold responsibilities for the operation of various types of machinery and any necessary assigned work. Through the effective management of targets, goals and mixing efficiencies, the Mixing Supervisor will ensure the ongoing success of batches produced. The Mixing Supervisor must be prepared to work as a team member and with minimal supervision, follow all safety and food safety procedures, and have a high threshold for heat in a manufacturing environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Oversee the operation of mixing department.
  • Manage the mixing process for cookie dough with a handson approach.
  • To supervise employees ensuring recipes are followed as per required production schedule and goals are achieved.
  • Training employees to work in the mixing department as required.
  • Inspects batch mixtures and evaluate them with standards outlined by Quality Assurance Team, to ensure customer specifications are followed.
  • Check ingredient quantities and ensure proper storage.
  • Request ingredients through the Transfer Order process.
  • Coordinates and schedules activities of workers.
  • Maintain accurate records of mixing operations, production data, KPIs and other ERP related works.
  • Closely review performance of employees and discipline/reward them when needed in consultation with Human Resources.
  • Adhering to and enforcing all policies, procedures and programs of the company (GMP, Quality, Food Safety, Health & Safety etc) at all times.
  • Maintain /Control the tools according to the tools handling procedures.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in food manufacturing environment; 2 years experience at the supervisory level
  • Familiarity with highly automated process/packaging technology is an asset.
  • Knowledge of HACCP and related food safety procedures.
  • Can multi-task in an effective manner and work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to collect data, prepare and interpret production reports.
  • Grade 12 education. Good written and verbal English language skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees and management.
  • Intermediate computer skills including Email, MS Excel, Word.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including some overtime, Saturdays, Sundays and/or different shifts when needed.
  • Excellent knowledge of HACCP.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), CFIA, SQF/GFSI. Lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Enthusiastic learner and proactive individual with the ability to effectively manage various projects concurrently.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills. A results-oriented individual with excellent problem solving and organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and deliver high-quality results within specified time frames.
  • Attention to detail, ability to prioritize and make judgments, and a sense of urgency will be important to the candidates success.
  • Must be comfortable working in an entrepreneurial spirited, fast-paced and changing workplace environment with a desire to make a strong impact on the business.
  • Must have excellent initiative, be a self-starter with a keen attention to details.
