Job Description

At First General Edmonton, we provide emergency mitigation services for damage caused by water, sewer back-ups, fire, smoke damage, wind damage, vehicle impacts, catastrophic storm response, bio/trauma clean-up, asbestos remediation, and full construction services.

We are in search of a skilled Mitigation Supervisor to join our dynamic team. This role plays a crucial role in safeguarding our clients' properties and mitigating risks related to environmental hazards. Their expertise and attention to detail will be instrumental in maintaining the safety and well-being of our clients and their communities. The Mitigation Supervisor on the Mitigation team is responsible for overseeing and conducting various environmental mitigation projects. These projects may include but are not limited to asbestos removal, mould remediation, lead abatement, and hazardous material cleanup utilizing specialized equipment and following strict safety protocols to ensure the successful completion of each project.

The Mitigation Supervisor assists in the fast response to emergency property damage claims and other restoration-related activities within Edmonton and surrounding areas. This position works closely and reports to the Mitigation Managers. Mitigation Supervisor must be highly skilled, and organized, have worked in the restoration field or related industry and be capable of managing a portfolio of minor and major projects simultaneously where property insurance claims require prompt, competent attention. Excellent people skills, ability to multi-task, attention to detail and ability to learn new technology are some of the qualities the successful candidate must possess.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:



Coordinating staff, equipment, supplies, and vehicles for emergency claims response. Training new staff in administrative duties such as timesheet completion and form filling. Conducting Toolbox meetings before tasks with crew. Supervising and training Restoration Labourers and temporary staff on safe work practices. Reviewing and executing tasks from Project Managers' and Content Manager's work orders. Communicating concerns and updates with PM and clients. Display empathy towards customers and direct questions to Project Manager as needed. Perform and delegate emergency job tasks including packing, moving contents, tear-outs, removals, setup of equipment, cleaning, etc. Collect samples of materials as required and document contents at job sites using Encircle. Monitor and perform psychometrics using IICRC standards. Use a power washer and water-extracting van as needed. Secure job sites and ensure proper maintenance of equipment, tools, and PPE. Participate in vehicle inspections and weekly mitigation training sessions. Ensure completion and accuracy of necessary forms. Maintain cleanliness of job sites and proper storage of equipment and supplies. Respond to after-hour emergency claims on a rotational basis. Follow all FGS safety policies and procedures. Maintain a clean driver's abstract and ability to drive company vehicles. Demonstrate commitment to the FGS health and safety program, including supervisory responsibilities. Ensure paperwork responsibilities are fulfilled, including near miss/catch cards, accident reports, inspection reports, hazard assessments, and toolbox meetings. Stay informed of any new policies, procedures, or forms affecting duties. Supporting with a variety of tasks and needs as they arise to ensure we are successful in all aspects.

Requirements:



High School Diploma or equivalent Proven 2-years experience in the restoration industry (emergency, remediation, insurance, etc.) IICRC certifications in water and fire Standard First Aid WHMIS Training Willingness to travel between sites in the Edmonton and surrounding areas

Excellent client-facing and customer service skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels Ability to both follow and relay instructions accurately to team members Solid organizational and time management skills including attention to detail and multitasking Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 including MS Office and SharePoint Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

Work Type:

Full Time, Field

Schedule:

Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Afterhours on-call rotation every 5 to 6 weeks for one week, 24/7

Travel:

Primarily in Edmonton and area, sometimes out of town trips

Salary:

Starting $24 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
