Moving beyond compliance, we truly value the experience and knowledge brought to our Indigenous partnerships.We are looking for a motivated person who is committed to growing their professional career at Procon while gaining valuable knowledge and experience.Proconis actively searching for a Co-op Student to join the Estimating Department.Responsibilities:The Mining Co-op Student will assist in managing Procon's operations and estimating functions. The Mining Co-op Student will be required to work rotational schedules at remote mine sites and work from either Procon's Prairie Division office in Saskatoon, SK (or Procon's head office in Burnaby, BC). The breakdown is expected to be 50% to 75% of the co-op term in the office supporting corporate projects and estimating functions, and 25% to 50% of the co-op term working at various mine sites where Procon operates on rotation (14 in/14 out or 21 in/21 out). The exact breakdown will be determined by business requirements.Specific objectives are:Operations Objectives:

  • Support Procon Managers/Engineers in the oversight, management, and optimization of Procon's various mining activities
  • Compile reports and perform data analysis at mining operations
  • May be required to perform technical underground studies and work functions, such as ventilation monitoring, bolt testing, surveying, water testing, equipment time studies, etc.
  • Optimize labour, equipment, and material resources to improve project performance
Estimating Objectives:
  • Support the development of mining, tunnelling, or underground construction estimations
  • Review tender documents, drawings, and specifications to determine scope of work
  • Develop estimates using first principles techniques
  • Review and analyze current job actual costing
  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal resources to support estimates including business development, operations, equipment, finance, and other departments
  • Assist with document preparation, and technical writing for proposals and studies
  • Participate and provide input to the bid review process
Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Enrolled in an engineering degree, technical diploma, or other relevant program related to the mining industry
  • Dedication to a strong safety culture and a willingness to learn
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Travel to remote mine site and a willingness to work rotational schedules will be required (ie. 14 days-on/14 days-off and 21 days-on/21 days-off)
