Rio Tinto Iron Ore Company of Canada's Mine Technical Services team is seeking a Mine Engineer (Daily Planning) to join their team supporting the mining operations in Labrador City. This is a key role responsible for developing daily production schedules that align with short range plans and operational priorities.


Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer and working in a collaborative community within the Mine Technical Services, key responsibilities will include:

Develop the daily production and auxiliary work schedule aligning with the 2-week plan and other operational priorities Collaborate with mine operations supervisors to gather inputs and strengthen plan execution Present production schedule and conformance to plan at the Plan of the Day (PLOD) meeting Attend and contribute to key meetings including L2 - Daily Production Meeting (DPM) and PLOD Support 2-week planner and development engineer with plan execution designs as required

This permanent position will be offered on a fly in, fly out work roster of 2 weeks on site and 2 weeks off, out of St. John's or Montreal. If you are interested in relocating to Labrador City, relocation assistance is provided.

What you'll bring

A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline At least 1 year of mine planning experience in an open-pit mine is strongly preferred Experience with mine planning software such as Deswik or Vulcan A proactive approach to safety, planning and continuous improvement We actively encourage applications from women and Indigenous Peoples for this opportunity

Field experience in an open-pit operation

We are a leading North American producer and exporter of premium iron ore pellets and high-grade concentrate with average iron grades greater than 66%. IOC's operations include a mine with five operational pits, a concentrator and a pelletizing plant located near Labrador City in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. We also operate a wholly-owned 418 km railway, the Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway (QNS&L), that links our Labrador operations to Company-owned port facilities in Sept-Iles.
