Millwright Lead Hand

Job Description

Reports to the Plant Manager at the same time working very closely with the Millwright's and direct there work daily. Is expected to perform highly diversified duties such as installing, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production. Order parts and seek out new venders when needed. Facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems, and processes to support the achievement of the facilities' business goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:



Machine Installation & Maintenance

: Install, maintain, and repair production machinery and plant equipment.

Parts Procurement

: Order necessary parts and identify new vendors as required.

Emergency Repairs

: Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs to production equipment, ensuring minimal downtime.

Scheduled Maintenance

: Conduct regular, planned maintenance and repairs on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.

Technical Troubleshooting

: Utilize mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic skills to troubleshoot and repair production machinery.

Documentation

: Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders, ensuring accurate documentation of repairs and maintenance in

Upkeep

software.

Preventive Maintenance

: Perform routine preventive maintenance to enhance machine and equipment longevity.

Tool Usage

: Safely operate hand tools, power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.

Problem Identification & Reporting

: Detect faulty operations or defective materials and report any unusual situations to the Plant Manager and Maintenance Team.

Safety Compliance

: Adhere to all safety regulations, maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.

Vendor & Contractor Coordination

: Direct and delegate work to external vendors and contractors as needed.

Health & Safety Leadership

: Support and lead by example in promoting Health & Safety policies and safe operating procedures.

Budget Management

: Assist in budget planning and work within established financial guidelines for maintenance and repairs.

Other Duties

Education and Certifications:



Journeyman or Apprentice Millwright

, registered to work in Alberta.

Red Seal Certification

in Millwright or Industrial Electrician is a significant asset. Additional related certifications or training are beneficial.

Experience:



2-5 years

of Maintenance Supervisory experience in a manufacturing or processing environment. Previous experience with industrial conveyor systems, balers/compaction systems, and hydraulic systems is preferred.

Skills and Qualifications:



Technical Proficiency

: Strong knowledge of industrial machinery, electrical and mechanical systems, and maintenance practices.

Computer Skills

: Proficient in

Microsoft Office

and

UpKeep

software for maintenance tracking and documentation.

Lean/5S

: Experience with Lean manufacturing principles or 5S methodology is an asset.

Material Handling

: Ability to operate material handling equipment and aerial lifts with fall arrest.

Leadership & Communication

: Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.

Time Management

: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Adaptability

: Ability to remain flexible and adapt in a dynamic work environment.

Safety Focus

: Demonstrated commitment to health and safety, with the ability to enforce and lead safety practices
