Millwright Apprentice

Location : Portage la Prairie, MB

Job Overview:

At Roquette, as part of our Maintenance Team, you'll gain the hands-on experience and mentorship needed to become a fully certified Millwright. You'll work directly alongside expert journeymen, supporting the daily operation of a world-class processing facility that's driving innovation in plant-based ingredients.

This role is ideal for someone who's

completed at least Level 1 of the apprenticeship schooling requirement

and is ready to put their skills into action while continuing to learn and grow. As you progress through your apprenticeship program, Roquette will continue to support you with regular pay while you attend school--ensuring your education and on-the-job experience go hand in hand.

The position starts at $35.00/hour, with compensation adjusted based on your level of completed schooling.

What You'll Do:

Support journeyman millwrights in the installation, dismantling, and alignment of complex industrial machinery.

Learn to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to understand machine layouts and repair plans.

Assist with basic maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting equipment.

Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Help move, position, and set up large mechanical parts using appropriate lifting techniques.

Gain foundational knowledge in hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems, applying your learning under direct supervision.

Work with the team to prioritize work orders and support preventive maintenance activities.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant workspace every day.

Take part in continuous improvement programs, offering input to enhance equipment reliability and team performance.

What You'll Need:

Registered with Apprenticeship Manitoba as a Millwright Apprentice (minimum of 1 year of schooling completed).

Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license.

Ability to work 12-hour rotating day and night shifts in alignment with plant operation.

Other Skills:

Able and willing to work under the direct supervision of a certified Millwright Journeyman for all trade-related tasks.

Strong mechanical aptitude, with a solid understanding of how machinery functions.

Physically capable of lifting heavy objects and working in demanding environments.

High attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a genuine desire to learn and improve.

Familiarity with basic hand and measuring tools, and comfort with reading technical instructions and diagrams.
