Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the successful candidate will gain on-the-job experience and training in the inspection, repair, and service of mechanical equipment until such time as they become a certified Millwright Journeyperson. The successful candidate will be committed to safe work practices and strive for zero harm to people, property, and the environment.Responsibilities

  • Conduct planned maintenance; troubleshoot equipment deficiencies; provide timely quality equipment repair;
  • Provide feedback to supervisors on planned maintenance to ensure repairs are completed according to schedule;
  • Demonstrate a commitment to De Beers Canada safety, health and environmental programs and comply with all security policies, and;
  • Report any issues that may harm people, property or the environment.
This position is on a 14 days in /14 days out rotation.Qualifications
  • Preference will be given to Members of the Deninu Ku\xc3\xa9, Lutsel K\'e Dene First Nation, North Slave M\xc3\xa9tis Alliance, Northwest Territory M\xc3\xa9tis Nation, Tlicho Government, or Yellowknives Dene First Nation, followed by non-indigenous residents of the Northwest Territories; a resident of the Northwest Territories;
  • Completion of the Trades Entrance Exam or completion of high school courses in math, science and English with acceptable grades to demonstrate the academic skills required to be a successful Millwright Apprentice (transcripts will be required);
  • Be an IBA member of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation (YKDFN), or Lutsel K\'e Dene First Nation (LKDFN), or Tlicho Government, or Deninu K\'ue First Nation (DKFN), or North Slave M\xc3\xa9tis Alliance (NSMA), or the Northwest Territory Metis Nation (NWTMN). Non-IBA residents of the Northwest Territories may be considered if the position cannot be filled by an IBA member;
  • Ability to work well as part of a team in a fast paced, cross cultural, environment; and
  • Proven commitment to Safety, Health and Environmental standards.
