Millwork Finisher & Coating Specialist

to join our team.

Job Descritption

We are looking for a detail-oriented, process-driven individual with an upbeat attitude, strong communication skills, and a passion for precision wood finishing. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in woodworking, surface preparation, spray finishing, and color development. This dual-role position includes both production finishing and coating development/lab work, with a clear opportunity to grow into a Lead-Hand role within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

Millwork Finishing (Production Side):

Prepare cabinetry and millwork surfaces through sanding, filling, and cleaning Apply stains, sealers, primers, and topcoats using Kremlin spray systems Operate, clean, calibrate, and maintain finishing equipment (flat line system, 2K system, pumps, spray guns, and curing oven) Perform quality checks to ensure consistent, high-end finishes Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company and Ministry of Labour safety standards
Coating Specialist (Colour Lab & Batch Mixing):

Mix stains, paints, and coatings to match client samples or design specifications Develop custom colours and finishes through controlled testing and adjustments Maintain detailed records of all formulas, mixes, and adjustments for consistency and repeatability Manage inventory of coatings, pigments, and chemicals Ensure adherence to all safety protocols for handling, storage, and disposal Support the production team with accurate and timely batch mixing
Qualifications:

2-3 years of proven experience in wood or millwork finishing (experience in autobody or other coating applications also considered) Proficiency in spray finishing (Kremlin systems preferred), flat line operation, sanding tools, and oven use Knowledge of 2K mixing systems, air make-up units, and spray booth/filter maintenance Strong eye for color, wood grain, and fine detail Physically capable of working in a fast-paced production environment Highly organized with strong documentation and record-keeping skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Positive attitude, reliability, and a collaborative team mindset Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
Assets (Preferred, Not Required):

Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and finish schedules Experience with polyurethane, water-based, and solvent-based finishes Understanding of color theory and custom finish development Prior experience in a custom cabinetry or architectural millwork setting Prior experience working with chemicals and coatings Lean manufacturing principles
