Our well established custom millwork/cabinet shop in Aldergrove is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Millwork Finisher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for finishing all painted and stained cabinets and cabinet parts with precision, ensuring high-quality finishes. They will also assist in the shop with cabinet building, CNC and Edge banding parts and pieces and any other duties needing to be filled when there is a slower period in the finishing booth. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilizing a wide range of skills. Candidates should have a strong understanding of construction processes and be capable of working with various tools and materials to deliver exceptional results.
Responsibilities
Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and priming.
Interpret shop drawings and renderings in order to apply the correct finish
Keep inventory up to date and in order and submit order requests to project manager
Ensure that all materials are stored at the appropriate temperature.
Maintain a clean workspace, completing daily/weekly/monthly maintenance and cleanups
Produce colour samples per request.
Produce custom stain matches using multiple stain colours and chemicals.
Maintain the appropriate records of all stain matches and samples that are made in a formula's binder including job name
Provide Project Manager estimates of required paint, stains and materials for each job
Ensure a safe environment by maintaining and wearing all appropriate safety equipment
Ensure that all work is completed to the highest quality standards while adhering to safety protocols.
Collaborate with team members to coordinate tasks and ensure timely project completion.
Follow all company policies regarding materials handling and waste disposal.
Produce cabinet parts using a wide range of materials as well as woodworking machinery and small hand tools
Assist with operating CNC and Edge bander as needed
Assist with other duties throughout the shop or install as needed
Qualifications
Ability to calculate ratios and percentages in order to mix finishes
Must have experience and skill in applying stain, lacquer, and paints to various types of wood, using different types of products (oil and water based, for example), using various techniques (spray gun, hand wiping, distressing, etc.) as well as being adept in mixing colors to achieve accurate matches.
Ability to read tape measure to 1/32 of an inch
Ability to read and understand shop drawings and measurements
Minimum two - three years' experience in the cabinet making industry
Efficient in reading and communicating fluently in English
Strong attention to detail and quality control
Willing and able to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to lift more than 50 lbs
Willing to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to work in a fast paced, team environment
Ability to adapt well to changes, pivot when needed and multi-task
Ability to prioritize and be aware of timelines.
Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools relevant to painting tasks is an asset.
Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively.
Familiarity with millwork, assembly, fabrication, construction, carpentry, and machining is a plus.
Previous warehouse experience is advantageous for understanding materials handling procedures

(A long weekend every weekend) 4 day work week - Monday to Thursday - 7:00 am to 5:30pm
Starting wage - dependent on experience
