This position will be expected to work on the day shift (7:30AM to 4:00PM) for 4-6 weeks to understand the production operations and workflow and then transitioned to evenings (5:30PM to 2:00AM).
Our
Millwork Finisher
is responsible for preparing and applying finishes to wood and other materials to meet specified standards and project requirements. This role requires precision, craftsmanship, and attention to detail in all aspects of surface preparation and finishing.
Key Responsibilities:
Apply stains, paints, and other finishes to wood and various materials in a consistent and high-quality manner
Sand wood surfaces and apply stain or polish to achieve a smooth, finished look
Match and apply finishes to meet specified colors and project requirements
Clean and polish completed products to enhance appearance and durability
Maintain finishing tools, equipment, and personal protective gear in good working condition
Communicate effectively with co-workers, managers, and supervisors to ensure workflow and quality standards are met
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Completion of secondary school preferred, but not mandatory
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the millwork or finishing industry
Proficient in using hand tools and power tools (e.g., sanders)
Strong attention to detail
Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and specifications
Excellent eyesight for detecting surface imperfections
Ability to visualize a finished product from drawings or blueprints
Enjoys hands-on work, developing craftsmanship, and achieving precision results
Working Conditions:
Indoor shop environment
May be required to lift equipment or materials weighing over 25 kg
Exposure to paints, stains, and related chemicals (with proper ventilation and PPE)
Potential exposure to airborne dust from sanding processes
