Our
Millwork Drafting Engineers
specialize in creating detailed architectural millwork drawings and resources to support production. This role involves interpreting customer requirements or sketches in order to draft various custom millwork projects including but not limited to wall paneling, cabinetry, moldings, doors, or other architectural millwork/woodwork installations using AutoCAD (2D/3D).
This role is a permanent full-time position, primarily based in Mississauga (on-site).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Taking ownership of projects and seeing them through to 100% with detailed focus on drawings, details, dimensions and hardware specifications. The drawing should be complete with all the required information to drive the product to the finish line.
Managing information, maintaining notes, documentation and making sure your questions are answered when needed utilizing our internal ERP system.
Drawing in AutoCAD as a supplementary software to support Microvellum and producing supplementary production drawings to support production. Example, cut lists, flat layouts, sequence layouts, etc.
Reading and understanding Architectural drawings, site dimensions, site photos, etc.
Understanding the project requirements and collaborating with different teams to produce the drawings more efficiently, on budget and on time.
Revising redlines and ensuring the accuracy of information prior to resubmission
Review plans, specifications and other customer documentation if service is requested by project manager
Creates drawings which meet and exceed the customer's requirement
Maintain notes, design calculations and other documentation
Create bill of materials for shop drawings
Work closely with Project Managers, Programmers and various other levels of Management
ABILITIES
Candidates with proficient in AutoCAD will be considered
Demonstrated Attention to Detail (Experienced)
Excellent Decision Making Skills and ability to Take Direction
Excellent communications skills - interpersonal, listening, oral, and written.
Able to generate layout drawings- sketches and specifications.
Familiar with design parameters related to architectural Mill work.
Knowledgeable of standard drafting practices and procedures.
Able to figure out what material is used with various products
Able to work with minimal supervision, efficiently schedule and manage time.
Proficient in 3D Modelling
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Architectural Mill work Industry (5 years+)
Auto Cad (required 5 years+)
Microvellum software ( preferred 1 year+)
SolidWorks (preferred 2 years+)
SWOOD (preferred 1 years+)
Excel (required Proficient - Advanced)
Carpentry/ Cabinet Making Experience is considered a strong asset
Good understanding of different product builds, dowels, dados, etc.
Good understanding of hardware
Problem and technical solver
Self-driven and ability to work independently
Some shop/ machining experience is preferred
Knowledge of AWMAC Standards is preferred
