We're seeking an experienced welder/fabricator who is comfortable working independently and can read and interpret technical engineering drawings. This role is ideal for someone with strong welding and fabrication skills, precise material cutting abilities, attention to detail and experience assisting with material handling, including forklift and crane operation. The right individual is a self-starter, takes pride in their work and demonstrates ownership in all tasks. A strong willingness to learn and grow is a must.
In addition to core welding and fabrication duties, this position requires versatility to support other areas of production as needed to maintain overall shop efficiency. The ideal candidate should be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and be a team player who collaborates effectively with others to achieve shared success.
What You'll Do:
Interpret and work from mechanical drawings and blueprints from our engineering team
MIG Weld various metals, primarily steel
Fabricate parts and assemblies for custom conveyor systems
Measure, mark, and cut materials to precise specifications
Use hand tools, power tools, saws, grinders, and other fabrication equipment
Operate forklifts to move and stage materials
Perform quality checks on work to ensure accuracy and alignment with drawings
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
Collaborate with engineers and other team members on custom builds
Support other areas of production, in a variety of capacities, to maintain overall shop efficiency
Other duties as assigned
What You Bring:
Experience with MIG welding and metal fabrication
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints with minimal supervision
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Experience operating forklifts and crane (valid certifications is a plus)
Familiarity with shop tools and safe work practices
Reliable, self-motivated, and team-oriented
Physical ability to lift heavy materials (50+lbs) and stand for extended periods
Qualifications/Requirements:
Proficient in Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Certification, an asset but not required
Ability to work with work with HSS squares, tubes, angles, round bars, flat bars etc.
Experienced using horizontal saw, ironworkers, drill presses, and pedestal grinders
Familiar with general shop machinery and power tools
Basic knowledge of engineering drawings and third angle projection
Valid driver's license
