Microbiologist
to join our team
on-site
in our Calgary facility working 40 hours/week (Monday - Friday).
THE ROLE
The
Microbiologist
is responsible for working with departments in the company to provide support in the microbiological analysis of samples.
This objective of this role is to ensure product compliance with support by performing microbiology laboratory testing to guarantee all products and materials meet our standards for quality, safety and efficacy.
DAY-TO-DAY
Perform routine microbiological testing of raw materials and finished products.
Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records and logbooks.
Complete test reports.
Perform microbiological analyses for future products that are under product development.
Support to ensure regulatory compliance and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in pharmaceutical production.
Raise deviations, non-conformances, CAPA's and OOS's when appropriate.
Identify, suggest and address possible gaps.
Participate in development of validation protocols and execute microbiological related validation assays (process, cleaning, hold time, etc.).
Develop and review microbiology SOP's.
Maintain a calibration schedule of equipment used in the microbiology laboratory. Use equipment as per operating procedures.
Maintain inventory of all supplies required for the micro laboratory to ensure ongoing and uninterrupted testing.
Support the company in performing microbiological testing.
Perform and prepare reports for environmental monitoring in the facility.
Identify and characterize microorganisms, as required and as possible.
Maintain an electronic library of organisms including microorganisms identified from site samples.
Maintain detailed records of laboratory findings and prepare reports for regulatory submissions.
Follow strict biosafety protocols to prevent contamination and ensure lab safety.
Support quality team as requested during external and regulatory audits. Participate in monthly microbiology laboratory internal audits.
Other duties as required.

IDEAL FIT
Education & Experience
A Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
Minimum 5 Years related experience
