Metallurgical Co-op

Musselwhite mine site.

Purpose

The Musselwhite Mine Metallurgy department is currently seeking a student for an 8-12-month work term who wants to gain on-site mine and milling experience through a work term placement.

Essential Duties

• The Metallurgy department has operational and research opportunities focusing on optimization projects for unit operations such as: Crushing, Grinding, Gravity, Leaching, Carbon-in-pulp (CIP), Elution and Water Recycle.
• The projects will expose you to different areas of gold production including, but not limited to: safety management, project management, process automation, metallurgical test work, data analysis and processing,
• engineering design, etc.
• Other responsibilities of the Metallurgy Student include, but are not limited to:
• Learning the milling process from the production floor
• Executing required metallurgical test work
• Computation of daily/monthly mill production reports

Training & Experience

• Preference is given to students with at least 2 years completed in a Chemical Engineering Technologist or Chemical Engineering Program
• Previous experience in a production environment is an asset
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications
• Organized
• Flexible with day-to-day tasks
• Ability to work both independently and in a group setting
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Working Conditions

• The schedule for this position will consist of 14 days on and 14 days off, 12 hours per day.
• The Musselwhite gold mine in northwestern Ontario is a fly-in, fly-out operation on the southern shore of Opapimiskan Lake, about 480 kilometers (km) north of Thunder Bay in North West Ontario.
