REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Diesel Shop

RATE OF PAY: $40.55

ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
Metal Fabricators create, install, fabricate and repair alloy/metal products
MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Complete and independently plan, lay out, repair, dismantle, rebuild, maintain, install, and fabricate metal components
• Fabricates sheet metal components such as ducts, bins, hoppers, chutes, shields, guards, ventilation systems, screens, stacks, exhaust hoods, etc.
• Fabrication including shearing, forming, punching, drilling, grinding and welding
• Work from blueprints, sketches, manufacturer's patterns, and construction specifications
• Use of various types of sheet metal and substitute materials
• Adapt to new methods, processes, material and equipment
• Use hand tools and electric welding materials

REQUIREMENTS:

• Certificate of Qualification from one of the following trades: (Metal Fabricator (Fitter) 437A), Welder (456A), or Construction Boilermaker (428A) or a minimum of eight years of recent, related experience (proof required)
• 4 years of related work experience in all areas of fabrication of sheet metal components and use of required hand tools and electric welding tools
• Valid CWB tickets would be considered a strong asset (all position SMAW CWB and FCAW CWB Qualifications)
• Arc air back gouging and oxyacetylene cutting experience is an asset
• Experience in heavy steel fabrication/welding or heavy equipment field repair
• Able to work at heights
• Ability to read blueprints and do layouts working to close tolerance
• Possess good interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written)
• Demonstrated ability to work in both individually and in a team environment
• Shift work is a requirement of the position
