Reporting to the Director, the Merchandise Planner will partner closely with Category Managers to accurately plan and maximize seasonal inventory performance and sales. They will execute detailed analytics and recommend key actions to support optimal inventory performance. They own the merchandise plan and are responsible for its accuracy and integrity. The Merchandise Planner ensures that product flow is optimized to meet the needs of the Giant Tiger customer.

Merchandise Planner, Grocery; Job Highlights

Recommend actions to maximize store inventory productivity and provide store inventory recommendations to Category Management, create and align the pricing lifecycle plan, and manage the planning budget;

Plan, identify, and execute recommended store inventory exit strategies;

Partner with the Category Management team to plan Category seasonal financial contributions;

Prepare, plan, and make recommendations into the weekly and seasonal post-mortem;

Recommend in-season actions including markdowns to maximize sales, margin, and store inventory productivity while minimizing left-over inventory;

Deliver financial success by understanding and executing against inventory turns, margin, sales, and sales-to-plan targets.

Merchandise Planner, Grocery; Key Qualifications

3-5 years of Planning or Analytics experience required, preferably in retail

Post-secondary education, preferably in supply chain, business or economics/finance;

Strong knowledge of merchandise planning tools

Superior analytical, problem solving, time-management, prioritization, and organizational skills;

Advanced MS Excel skills;

Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills an asset

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment;

Strong ability to translate and communicate a strategy into a concrete plan

Self-disciplined, persistent, and has a strong work ethic

Bilingual (English/French), is an asset
