Your Opportunity:

This is a permanent part time Mental Health Therapist position, working with the Assertive Outreach Team in Fort McMurray. This team provides community-based services to persons with a chronic and/or severe and persistent mental health illness. You will support clients and collaborate with interdisciplinary professionals through office-based practice, on-site visits, and through the utilization of technology, as well as in a client's home. You will provide consultation, assessment, treatment, and crisis intervention and case management to persons across the age continuum who present with a variety of mental health issues and concerns. Your responsibilities will also include working in partnership with and providing clinically focused consultation to community agencies and other healthcare providers in the delivery of mental health services. You will be responsible for the delivery of evidence-based therapeutic counselling and support interventions. By utilizing a variety of treatment modalities, you will provide individual, family, and group psychotherapy. As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be working closely with psychiatric and acute care units, community mental health and Community Health Representatives. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: master's degree in Psychology; master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; master's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; master's degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of three (3) years' experience within the last five (5) years in comprehensive mental health assessment and the provision of psychotherapy, preferably in a community setting. Possession of a valid Class 5 driver's license as work-related travel is required. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS). Preferred Qualifications:

Formal clinical training in triage, intervention, stabilization and case management skills, preferably in a community setting. Extensive knowledge of the resources of Addiction and Mental Health and the community.
