Job Description

Your Opportunity:

Community Assertive Services (CAS) is a client-centered, recovery-oriented program that supports community living, psychosocial rehabilitation and intervention for children, youth and their families who have serious mental illnesses, have severe symptoms and impairments and have not benefited from traditional outpatient programs. This home/community-based treatment program follows a flexible Assertive Community Treatment model of intervention. The Mental Health Therapist will provide mental health assessment, treatment, care coordination, crisis intervention and consultation to children/youth experiencing psychological, emotional, and social and/or behavioural difficulties for psychiatrically complex, high-risk children and families. It would be helpful to have foundational knowledge in EMDR and other Trauma Based therapeutic modalities. You will work as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team to provide linkages to community A+MH services and collaborate with physicians, parent(s) or guardians and a broad range of community professionals and services. Additionally, you will provide mental health interventions as the treatment plan indicates and collaborate with Child and Family Services and EPS staff to plan appropriate community follow-up and support the Mental Health Crisis Team and Stollery ED when required.

Description:

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.
