Your Opportunity:

The Addiction Services Edmonton Clinic is recruiting a temporary full time Mental Health Therapist (MHT). Reporting to the Manager, the MHT works within an interdisciplinary team and provides both individual and or group treatment and case management to assigned clients. The MHT engages in client assessment, treatment and evaluation and contributes to program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives. The program adheres to the Edmonton Zone Addiction & Mental Health Principles of Care including a focus on client-centered care, collaboration between the care team and client, care that is trauma informed, concurrent addiction and mental health capable and recovery-oriented.

Description:

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of masters degree in Psychology; or masters degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or masters or bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or masters degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college Additional Required Qualifications:

Candidates with the following qualifications will be considered: Bachelor\'s degree in Occupational Therapy with considerable experience in mental health assessment and provision of Psychotherapy. Diploma or Bachelor\'s degree in Nursing (RN/RPN) with a related Master\'s degree including training in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy, or considerable experience in mental health assessment and provision of Psychotherapy. Minimum 3 years of relevant mental health experience. Current Heart and Stroke Foundation (HSF) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Health Care Provider. Employer provided Suicide Risk Management, and Prevention of Harassment and Violence (PoHV) or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention. Preferred Qualifications:

A strong understanding of client resources in the community and knowledge of mental health legislation including Community Treatment Orders is an asset. Knowledge and experience with providing individual and group psychotherapy using an evidenced based modality. Knowledge and experience treating individuals experiencing addiction (substance and/or process). Working knowledge of LOCUS.
