This position reports to the Care Manager, responsible for the Children, Youth and Families, Addiction and Mental Health (CYF AMH) services located at the Northgate Clinic. The Addiction and Mental Health Therapist (AMHT) provides mental health assessment, treatment, case coordination, crisis intervention and consultation to children, youth and their families experiencing psychological, emotional, social, substance misuse or behavioral difficulties. This position may also facilitate groups and Walk-In sessions within the Children, Youth and Families, Addiction and Mental Health portfolio. The therapist works as a multidisciplinary team member, providing services within the clinic setting and working collaboratively with community partners. The therapist will provide services from a family-centered, concurrent capable care framework, addressing the needs across the continuum of care. This therapist will work out of the Northgate Clinic.

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of one of the following programs: master's degree in Psychology; master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; master's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; master's degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:
3-5 years of direct clinical experience focusing on children, youth and their families, preferably in a community mental health setting. Current CPR certification. Excellent interpersonal skills and well-developed written and verbal skills. Experience in Suicide Risk Management (assessment and intervention). Formal training in a therapeutic intervention modality may include but is not limited to Solution-focused Therapy, CBT, Narrative, Motivational Interviewing, Family Systems, etc. Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychology, or Nursing with considerable experience in mental health assessment and intervention. An equivalent level of education and experience will be considered. Non Violent Crisis Intervention Training. Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office Suite. Provisional status with current registration with CAP will be considered. Registered Social Workers must be authorized to perform psychosocial interventions, and designation as a Clinical Social Worker. Registration in a professional regulatory body as defined by the Health Professions Act (CARNA, CRPNA, ACOT, CAP, ACSW).
