Your Opportunity:We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled, enthusiastic, and innovative Mental Health Therapist (MHT) within the Centerpoint clinic. The Clinic provides community-based, forensic psychological and psychiatric assessment and treatment services for youth in conflict with the law. As an MHT, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) with persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment. This position also supports the Staringpoint Program, a long-term day program supporting adolescents with forensic involvement related to sexual offenses. The successful candidate will work with young males to help manage and process offending behaviour, with the ultimate goal of reducing recidivism. The successful candidate will have an exceptional ability to engage and work with youth, families, and community partners. Skill with process group facilitation, individual and group counselling, and experiential learning activities is a must to be successful in this role. Experience in behaviour management and a recovery-oriented approach will be critical in this program. Consultation with the clinical team and supervisors will be important. The successful candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills and proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Required Qualifications:Master\'s degree in Psychology; or master\'s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master\'s or bachelor\'s degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master\'s degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of two years\' experience working with youth or young adults in a group setting. Minimum of two years providing counselling/therapy to adolescent clients. Certification in CPR/First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Suicide prevention all required. A proven track record of group facilitation and behavior management are required.
