Job Description

Linck Child, Youth and Family Supports ("Linck") requires two (2) Mental Health Counsellors. These are full-time, contract positions beginning as soon as possible and lasting one year.

The incumbent in this position works within a multi-professional team, in-home or in community to provide prevention, assessment, referral, clinical counselling, and follow-up services to caregivers, children and/or youth experiencing mental health issues. They provide clinical services in the form of brief, individual, or family counselling by employing evidence-based models of short-term therapeutic intervention parenting/marital intervention, family counseling by employing evidence Harm Reduction etc.

Clientele includes:

Caregivers. Individuals up to the age of 18 years. Young Offenders. Families: Siblings (together or individually); parent/child intervention/parenting/marital intervention.


Collaborates with other service providers to assist in meeting the needs of the caregivers, children and/or youth based therapeutic models i.e., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness,

Provision of mental health programming and therapeutic groups.

Refers caregivers, children and/or youth to other appropriate service providers in the community, and advocates on their behalf.



Qualifications:

The ability to communicate effectively with the public and staff with a pleasant, courteous, and professional manner. Four-year Honours Bachelor's degree (BA) or Bachelor of Social Work degree (BSW). Preference for BSW degree or Honors Degree in Psychology or related discipline. Registration with an applicable Ontario regulatory college. Up to six (6) months of experience working with children, youth, caregivers and families. Tact, diplomacy, and human relations skills are required when handling contacts of a difficult or specialized nature and/or for resolutions of problems. Computer and keyboarding skills, extensive use of word-processing programs. A valid driver's license and use of a personal vehicle.
