Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the unit manager, the Mental Health Clinician functions as a member of the Community Addiction and Mental Health Clinic - South Services team. As a primary therapist, the Mental Health Clinician provides assessment and targeted time-limited goal-focused therapy for adult clients with moderate to severe mental health disorders. This exciting opportunity also provides solution-oriented therapy to individuals across the lifespan (primarily adults) within our Single-Session Walk-In service. At this time, this position entails working at or out of the South Calgary Health Centre, South Health Campus, or both sites.

Description:

As a Mental Health Clinician, you will work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team collaborating on the delivery of care for the needs of individuals, families and/or communities. You will be responsible for the intake, clinical interviews and screening of clients with addiction and mental health disorders. You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with other team members as required. You may have the opportunity to participate in program planning, development and to provide supervision to practicum students. This position is open to Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychologists, and Occupational Therapists.

Required Qualifications:

Social Workers: Completion of bachelor degree in Social Work and active or eligible registration with the Alberta College of Social Work (ACSW). Psychologists: Completion of bachelor degree in Psychology and active or eligible registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses: Completion of an accredited nursing or psychiatric nursing education program and active or eligible registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years' experience within the last 2 years in an adult mental health community clinic therapy setting providing individual and group therapy. Recent training and experience in single-session therapy. Registration with the appropriate regulatory body. Authorization to perform restricted psychosocial interventions (Alberta College of Social Work). Training and therapy experience in Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and Trauma-focused treatment such as EMDR or ART with an adult population. Preferred Qualifications:

Adult mental health assessment and crisis stabilization experience. Basic knowledge of DSM 5, medical co-morbidities and psychotropic medications. Basic Life Support. Discharge planning experience, including knowledge of Calgary Zone Addiction and Mental Health resources. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI). Training and experience in goal-focused episodic care and the recovery model.
