Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager or designate, the Mental Health Aide - Consumer Support Worker will work directly with clients in their own communities and within their homes. Under the guidance and direction of the Community Treatment Order Coordinator and/or Assertive Outreach Worker and/or therapist and in collaboration with the client, you will assist in the development and implementation of an individual service plan, and respecting confidentiality will collaborate with significant others and involved professionals. You will report changes in client's condition and relay client's involvement during activities to the responsible Community Treatment Order Coordinator and/or Assertive Outreach Worker. You will work co-operatively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals by regularly attending and contributing to staff and team meetings, participating in treatment team case conferences and in treatment team decisions/activities; and developing and maintaining collaborative relationships.

Description:

As a Mental Health Aide, you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team to provide a welcoming and safe care environment. You will assist in the provision of direct patient/client care as delegated in a person-centered, recovery oriented and safe manner. In this position, you will assist and / or promote independence to patients/clients in completing activities of daily living as well as assisting other health professionals with providing treatments and observing and reporting relevant patient/client information to professional staff. You will assist new patients/clients and families with orientation, and assist in the general support of the work area.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12. Completion of Health Care Aide or Mental Health Aide Certificate or equivalent. Additional Required Qualifications:

Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered. Post-secondary diploma level education in the human service field (LPN, rehab, and social work). Good observation and communication skills and ability to work in a team environment. Targeted Responder Level CPR through Heart & Stroke. Related experience dealing with individuals with complex mental health needs. 5 years' experience in community mental health or in related field. Training in: suicide and crisis intervention, Mental Health First Aide, Non-violent crisis intervention. Able to travel in and around Sylvan Lake and Innisfail. Preferred Qualifications:
