Position Overview
We are seeking Men's Project Coordinator to join our team at the Labrador Friendship Centre. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting individuals who have experienced, or are at-risk of experiencing, gender-based violence, and providing support and education related to gender-based violence. The ideal candidate has completed a post-secondary program in social sciences or a related field, has experience working with Indigenous populations, and has experience planning and facilitating group activities and programs.
This position is based on 35 hours per week, and while most work can be completed within the standard 8:00am-4:00pm workday, some evenings and weekends may be required.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate monthly information sessions focused on men's mental health, healthy relationships, and gender-based violence prevention.
Lead group outdoor activities, wellness sessions, and sharing circles to promote healing, connection, and resilience among participants.
Coordinate group-based activities such as cooking, crafting, woodworking that foster teamwork, skill-building, and positive social engagement.
Support mentorship and community engagement initiatives that connect men and boys with role models and peer support networks.
Develop relationships and collaborate with like-minded organizations.
Develop and follow a program workplan and program budget.
Track program statistics and prepare monthly reports.
Participate in relevant training, meetings, and workshops as required.
Other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in social sciences or related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience working with and providing support to Indigenous populations.
Knowledge of the National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence
Training in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST) is an asset
Knowledge and experience working in a trauma-informed manner and an understanding of Indigenous cultural safety
Key Attributes & Assets
Previous experience working directly in community programming.
Comprehensive knowledge of Labrador's Indigenous people and culture.
Strong knowledge of local resources and supports.
Excellent crisis intervention skills and coping methods.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
Strong oral and verbal communication skills.
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and general computer applications.
Ability to work effectively in a team setting as well as independently.
Membership to an Indigenous group or having Indigenous ancestry is an asset.
Ability to speak Inuttitut or Innu-Aimen is an asset.
